As you already know Bocas is short for Bocas del Toro, our beautiful destination in Panama and DAO is short for “Decentralized autonomous organization”, in fact, a solution to bring the world of travel and tourism into the hands of travelers and citizens without a middleman.

The travel industry is rife with intermediaries and centralized promotional efforts. Traditional tourism operations remain plagued with go-betweens and limited rewards, often only available to exclusive travelers. However, the crypto and blockchain space offers decentralized solutions which allow for new interactions between people and places like the BocasDAO.

The travel industry continues to reemerge from the catastrophic losses due to the pandemic. Post-COVID, travel may follow suit with many other global industries which have been rapidly adopting crypto and blockchain solutions.

Places such as Malta, Switzerland, Portugal, El Salvador and Panama are accessible destinations for those traveling with crypto due to their increased adoption.

Our founding members decided to utilize the new possibilities NFTs provide, to give people from all over the world the power to shape their stay at Bocas del Toro.

We created a series of limited NFTs in tier groups called passports, based on accommodation rights, community benefits and voting rights. They are tools for holders to participate in a DAO which enables our members to have a measurable impact on the design of their own dream destination. The NFTs are also loanable and/or open to resale taking advantage of being part of a first mover in this field.

DAOs continue to be a hot topic in the crypto space and appear more often with functional use cases. BocasDAO is one of the first movers in this field of NFTs.
